Dialects and the IPA
- Location 1
About This Class
This group class for actors focuses on learning the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), an indispensable tool for acquiring new dialects and accents. Actors will learn how to read and write in the IPA, how to identify the changes from one dialect to another, how to mark those changes on their script, and how to speak naturally in the dialect while giving a stellar performance. Ultimately, this method will allow actors to teach themselves any dialect or accent of English they desire. The course will culminate in actors recording a self-tape showing off a pristine British Received Pronunciation Dialect in monologue form. No makeup classes will be offered for this course, but classes will be recorded and available for download to all students. Receive a $50 discount if you pay in full prior to the start of class. Payment plans are available. A $50 deposit is required to reserve your spot, which counts towards your balance.
